To The Voters of District 66 in Collin County,

As most of you know, I have been running for the Texas House of Representatives since August, 2009. Our campaign message has focused on the issues and returning our representation in Austin back to conservative values. We have run an honest, ethical, grassroots campaign that is above board and without reproach. Unfortunately one of my opponents has decided to attack me both personally and professionally and I can no longer sit idly by and allow these attacks to remain unaddressed.

  1. 'Operation Chaos' was launched by Rush Limbaugh in 2008 to try and avert an Obama presidency. I participated in Operation Chaos because, like many other loyal Republicans, we could foresee the disaster an Obama administration would bring to this country. If I am a Democrat, then so is Rush!

  2. My business property taxes have always been paid on time and in full.

  3. As a small business owner, I have several dba's registered, many of which were never launched and most of which are merely ideas or concepts. One of these dba's, 'Love in the Fast Lane' was a concept I developed for an advertising campaign to address road rage. It was never launched.

  4. Another dba is Fubiov (Forget U Buddy I'm On Vacation). Fubiov is an internet portal designed for users to share family vacation stories, videos, pictures, & destination critiques. There was never any deceitful advertising or improper content.

  5. The www.Fubiov.com site was deactivated until now. Feel free to visit the site. I may decide to keep the site live as a result of the free publicity it is receiving.

  6. Our contributors are staunch conservatives who put their money where their mouth is. They support conservatives running for office around the state of Texas, and chose to back me as well, and we are grateful. Liberal/progressives would like to discredit the conservative base by calling us extremists.

My opponent's malicious and hateful attacks are the work of a desperate opponent. The old tired political attacks that worked in the past are not going to get leaders elected this time. I believe voters are looking for real leadership to move our state forward - not politics as usual. Join me in returning our government to a body of patriotic statesman and not the same old rhetoric.

Stand with me on March 2nd and return our government to the people!

Wayne Richard, candidate for Texas State Representative District 66, received the coveted “Endorsed Award” from the Collin County Tea Party, and “Tea Approved” from North Texas Tea Party.  Wayne Richard, who announced his candidacy in July to run against a 19 year incumbent, has earned the respect of both tea parties because of his passion to ensure common sense conservative values are fully represented in Austin.  Wayne is running on a platform of limited government, lower taxes, border protection, voter I.D., and pro-family legislation.  Since declaring his candidacy Wayne and his volunteers have worked diligently toexpose the nineteen year incumbent’s voting record, a representative who was considered “too big to fail”.  Several weeks ago, to the districts surprise, this nineteen year powerful incumbent abruptly stepped down.

The North Texas Tea Party website states, “Wayne Richard had the political courage to get into this race when everyone held back, fearing the strength of a long-time incumbent.  But the incumbent had become more and more liberal over the years and Wayne was willing to take the risk for the taxpayers that others would not.  This kind of initiative and courage will serve the district very well in Austin.”

Although all Collin County candidates were invited to attend the 2010 Election Tea party Rally last Wednesday, held at the Collin County College convention center in Plano, Wayne Richard was the only state representative from District 66 candidate invited to speak.  His message received a roaring applause from the audience as a result of his fresh fire and passion for protecting Texas freedoms and liberties.

For the past 6 months over 100 Tea Party members have joined Wayne Richard’s campaign volunteer team as neighborhood walkers and callers.  The dedicated volunteerism effort even includes his campaign manager.  Not only tea party members, but Republican precinct chairs have enthusiastically jumped on board as well.  Wayne stated, “I am humbled with the overwhelming grassroots response of energetic volunteers who are concerned about the direction of our state and country, and are willing to work tirelessly to see a common sense conservative elected.”

Wayne Richard is a long time Plano resident, who is seeking political office for the first time.  As a small business owner, he has been providing jobs for Texans for 19 years, is Chairman of the SMU Cox Alumni Board of Directors, and serves on the Salvation Army Plano Advisory board.  Wayne joined the NRA when he was in his twenties, and is a long time pro-life advocate.  He and his wife, Susan, have been married for 17 years, and are members of Prestonwood Church.

Plano Entrepreneur with SMU Connections Gets Jump on Field in Texas House Battle

By Mike Hailey

Capitol Inside Editor

The chief executive officer and founder of a media and advertising technologies company in the suburbs north of Dallas is off to a head-start with early support from some conservatives in the race for a Texas House seat that State Brian McCall of Plano has decided not to seek again in 2010.

Wayne Richard, a former Burroughs Corporation account representative who started the firm IGglobal in his home almost 20 years ago, actually entered the House District 66 race under the media radar before McCall revealed this past weekend that he plans to give up the seat that he won initially in 1990.

Richard had been preparing to challenge the longtime incumbent in the Republican primary in March until learning that the HD 66 seat would be open and up for grabs in a race that has less than two months to develop before the January 4 filing deadline for political campaigns in Texas next year.

While Richard might have faced long odds in a race against McCall, he can expect to be taken seriously in his debut political campaign with a resume that includes a post as the current chairman of the alumni organization board for the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. Richard could enjoy another potential advantage as a member of the massive Prestonwood Baptist Church in the House district he hopes to represent.

With McCall's announcement that he won't be on the ballot again coming as a surprise in political circles from Austin to the Collin County area that he represents, word started to spread quickly Sunday about Richard's campaign amid early speculation that Plano City Councilwoman Mabrie Jackson might enter the field of Republican contenders for the HD 66 seat as well.

Van Taylor - a Republican who sought without success to unseat U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards of Waco in 2006 before moving to Plano - was also mentioned as a possible contender in the race to replace McCall on the first day of speculation about the unexpected opening in HD 66.

Jackson, who won a seat on the council last year when she beat an incumbent, confirmed shortly after the news about McCall broke Saturday night that she expects to step down from her local post as early as this week. A Microsoft executive, Jackson had expressed an interest in a race for the House at some point in time but hadn't appeared to be preparing to take on McCall in the GOP primary on March 2 if he'd decided to seek another two-year term as widely expected until he declared otherwise.

While Jackson proved to be a prolific fundraiser in her first political campaign when she knocked off council incumbent Loretta Ellerbe in 2008, Taylor had the ability to tap his own personal wealth in the race for Congress against Edwards three years ago. Almost $700,000 of the $2.6 million war chest that Taylor amassed for the U.S. House race came as loans that he made to the campaign or personally guaranteed.

The district that McCall represents has been a Republican stronghold where the GOP's candidates at the top of the ticket had claimed more than 70 percent of the vote in recent elections until White House nominee John McCain finished with 61 percent there in 2008 as Barack Obama ran stronger in the Dallas area than previous Democratic presidential contenders had in the past several decades.

Richard has been meeting with conservative groups associated with the tea party movement as he prepared to run to the right of McCall, a moderate lawmaker who's one of Speaker Joe Straus' most powerful allies as the Calendars Committee chairman since the San Antonio Republican won the top leadership post early this year amid a revolt that McCall helped lead.

With McCall out of the running, most if not all of the Republicans who enter the battle to replace him will probably run under the conservative banner.

Richard, for example, has centered his campaign on the theme of American Sovereignty with conservative positions on key issues including his support for voter identification legislation, immigration control, private school vouchers, lower taxes, limited government, pro-life measures and term limits. But Richard also is attempting to portray himself as a conservative with compassion as he touts his position as a member of the The Salvation Army Plano Advisory Board.
