The five categories used in the side-by-side platform comparison are the same five from the TCC "Pledge with Texans", the conservative caucus' legislative agenda for the 82nd Legislature.

Today, on the 5th of July 2010, I will take it upon myself to reread The Declaration of Independence; to once again appreciate the extraordinary sacrifices that were made in an effort to establish a truly unique form of government, one of liberty and freedom.
It seems simple enough, to read and more importantly understand what our founding fathers were subjected to as servants to the king, and why they were willing to “mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor”.
I challenge you as well, to read this document and reflect upon the transgressions outlined in the Declaration of Independence our countrymen were enduring and that lead them to revolt against what was accurately perceived as a “tyrannical government”.

As you review the grievances put forth by this courageous group of patriots you may recognize similarities in today’s current events. I have highlighted below just a few of the grievances identified by our founding fathers against the king which thrust our nation into a war for independence from Great Brittan.
I ask you, is history repeating itself? It seems all so similar to that which we are subjected to today by our government.
That my friend, by any definition, is a direct assault upon the very foundation of our nation!

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen United States of America:
When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.
He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their Public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.
He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

Hello everyone,
What seems like an eternity ago, I wrote a series of editorials on the potential impact an Obama administration would have on our GOD given freedoms and liberties should he win the presidential election.
Unfortunately, he did win the presidency and subsequently many of my worst fears were realized in the short 18 months he has been in office.
One of the previous editorials I would like to revisit today dealt with the term “Living Document”, a term I applied to explain how progressives choose to interpret the US Constitution.
Perhaps it would be helpful to describe the two diametrically opposing perceptions of the Constitution; Constitutionalists verses Reconstructionist’s. Also, I feel it appropriate to scrutinize what role our founding fathers intended the Constitution to play in our system of government and how the progressive view would turn their anticipated system of government upside down.
Although I am certainly not a constitutional expert, I believe the two dissimilar viewpoints can easily be defined and differentiated.
Individuals who wish to maintain the balance of power in our three branches of government hold to the Constitutionalist theory. Those who believe it to be a living document and subject to interpretation and change are Reconstructionist’s.
According to constitutionalist theory, only the "people" are to make significant changes to the Constitution in accordance with the Article V amendment process.
Article Five of the United States Constitution describes the process whereby the Constitution may be altered. Such amendments may be proposed by the United States Congress or by a national convention assembled at the request of the legislatures if comprised of at least two-thirds of the states.
Modern Reconstructionist theory advocates have a very different perspective. To Reconstructionist’s, the Constitution reflects a set of conflicting ideals and notions. The Constitution becomes intrinsically no different from, nor superior to, other law — a stark contrast to the Constitutionalist position.
In my opinion, the overriding dilemma our country faces when interpreting which viewpoint to consider falls within the Federal Courts, specifically the Supreme Court. Our system of government was conceived and designed to promote and insure a balance of power between the three branches: Judicial, Executive and Legislative. No branch of government could practice supremacy when adjudicating societies concerns. It should only interpret.
As a Constitutionalist, I adhere to the belief the essential qualities of the constitution are its sense of “supremacy and permanence” as stated by Alexander Hamilton. That the courts have neither force, nor will, but merely judgment. This is an important differentiation to comprehend as today we have the Supreme Court often writing laws and not interpreting our laws.
The Reconstructionist believes the Supreme Court as an institution can no longer be described with any accuracy as a court, in the customary sense. Unlike a court, its primary function is not judicial but legislative. It is a governing body in the sense that it makes the basic policy decisions of the nation, selects among the competing values of our society, and administers and executes the directions it chooses in political, social and ethical matters. The Constitutionalist believes our rights are granted by GOD. Specifically expressing Americans underpinning is that of a Christian nation. That if these rights are not granted by GOD, but if by man, then man can effectively remove or dismiss these inherent rights many of us hold so dear.
The Reconstructionist considers it to be a theological document; one written by man and therefore subject to the whims of society. In essence, each subsequent generation writes its own Constitution; to become the major societal agency for reform.
On Monday, the full Senate initiates the confirmation process for Elena Kagan, potentially the most dangerous nominee ever considered to sit on our nation’s highest court. She is by all matter of judgment a Marxist, with stealth, radical agenda which will ultimately transform our future as a nation.
Do you recall Obama’s statement “a fundamental transformation of the country”?
I submit to you, Elena Kagan’s agenda will include the loss and dismantling of:
Point in fact, we may in short time witness this initial and grievous erosion of our sovereignty should Obama have the audacity to grant amnesty through executive privilege.
Elena Kagan is an activist, progressive, reconstructionist who will ignore the Constitution. We must as an informed electorate, recognize her ultimate objective is to dismantle and eradicate our Republic. Although she may not be able to accomplish this on her own as a single voice, we must realize this could be in reality, just one of Obama’s nominees during his Presidency.
We as a country have been blessed with liberty and democracy.
Thankfully, our forefathers had the wisdom to recognize “that which man giveth, man can taketh away”. It is up to us, our generation to ensure liberty is preserved, that our laws are based on GOD given rights, not those defined by man. Shall we live our lives as citizens or subjects?
The constitution, its powerful philosophy of freedom / liberty and how steadfastly we embrace these principles will determine our future as a nation.

Wayne Richard testifies to the Texas State Board of Education on American exceptionalism.
Hello,
My name is Wayne Richard and I am here today representing myself as a patriotic citizen. I am Chairman of the SMU COX Alumni Board of Directors. In addition, I am a former candidate for the Texas House of Representatives, District 66 West Plano. As a candidate I spent the past 8 months talking to thousands of voters about a variety of issues. Education was a key component of my platform, an issue everyone was eager to discuss in detail. To my surprise, many knew of the critical vote this committee will cast and the immense implications your vote will have on our student’s curriculum for years to come.
I trust each of you are intimately familiar with the various opinions regarding the politics of your decision. Will we provide our students with an unbiased and factual version of our state and country’s history or will we acquiesce to special interests and misinform our children with secular and anti-western propaganda?
I discovered as a candidate that the vast majority of citizens in my district are of the conservative reflection and believe it is our responsibility to provide our next generation with the cognitive skills to formulate their own beliefs. In other words, provide them with the basics and the historical foundation of our republic.
We must ensure our students grasp the core founding principles of our nation. We have a responsibility to provide the next generation with the skills and knowledge necessary to appreciate and if necessary to defend the blessings our forefathers gifted every US citizen with.
As we watch the socialist experiment fail around the world let us ensure we as a state continue to celebrate our freedoms and liberty for years to come by educating and not indoctrinating our young impressionable minds.
It is said history is written by the victorious. We as a nation have been blessed with the finest form of government know to man. Let us ensure we pass on the knowledge necessary for future generations to continue to build upon the cornerstone of democracy and freedom. That each child recognizes the rights we enjoy as a society are God given and our republic was formed as a Judeo-Christian society. These are the principles all future generations must learn and understand or we are destined to drift into the annals of a once and great free society.
I recognize regardless of your political beliefs, the sacrifice, dedication and commitment each of you is offering to the citizens of Texas. On behalf of the citizens of the great state of Texas, thank you for your service.

Wayne Richard, candidate for Texas State Representative District 66, received the coveted “Endorsed Award” from the Collin County Tea Party, and “Tea Approved” from North Texas Tea Party. Wayne Richard, who announced his candidacy in July to run against a 19 year incumbent, has earned the respect of both tea parties because of his passion to ensure common sense conservative values are fully represented in Austin. Wayne is running on a platform of limited government, lower taxes, border protection, voter I.D., and pro-family legislation. Since declaring his candidacy Wayne and his volunteers have worked diligently toexpose the nineteen year incumbent’s voting record, a representative who was considered “too big to fail”. Several weeks ago, to the districts surprise, this nineteen year powerful incumbent abruptly stepped down.

Although all Collin County candidates were invited to attend the 2010 Election Tea party Rally last Wednesday, held at the Collin County College convention center in Plano, Wayne Richard was the only state representative from District 66 candidate invited to speak. His message received a roaring applause from the audience as a result of his fresh fire and passion for protecting Texas freedoms and liberties.

For the past 6 months over 100 Tea Party members have joined Wayne Richard’s campaign volunteer team as neighborhood walkers and callers. The dedicated volunteerism effort even includes his campaign manager. Not only tea party members, but Republican precinct chairs have enthusiastically jumped on board as well. Wayne stated, “I am humbled with the overwhelming grassroots response of energetic volunteers who are concerned about the direction of our state and country, and are willing to work tirelessly to see a common sense conservative elected.”
Wayne Richard is a long time Plano resident, who is seeking political office for the first time. The chief executive officer and founder of a media and advertising technologies company in the suburbs north of Dallas is off to a head-start with early support from some conservatives in the race for a Texas House seat that State Brian McCall of Plano has decided not to seek again in 2010.
Wayne Richard, a former Burroughs Corporation account representative who started the firm IGglobal in his home almost 20 years ago, actually entered the House District 66 race under the media radar before McCall revealed this past weekend that he plans to give up the seat that he won initially in 1990.
Richard had been preparing to challenge the longtime incumbent in the Republican primary in March until learning that the HD 66 seat would be open and up for grabs in a race that has less than two months to develop before the January 4 filing deadline for political campaigns in Texas next year.
While Richard might have faced long odds in a race against McCall, he can expect to be taken seriously in his debut political campaign with a resume that includes a post as the current chairman of the alumni organization board for the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. Richard could enjoy another potential advantage as a member of the massive Prestonwood Baptist Church in the House district he hopes to represent.
With McCall's announcement that he won't be on the ballot again coming as a surprise in political circles from Austin to the Collin County area that he represents, word started to spread quickly Sunday about Richard's campaign amid early speculation that Plano City Councilwoman Mabrie Jackson might enter the field of Republican contenders for the HD 66 seat as well.
Van Taylor - a Republican who sought without success to unseat U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards of Waco in 2006 before moving to Plano - was also mentioned as a possible contender in the race to replace McCall on the first day of speculation about the unexpected opening in HD 66.
Jackson, who won a seat on the council last year when she beat an incumbent, confirmed shortly after the news about McCall broke Saturday night that she expects to step down from her local post as early as this week. A Microsoft executive, Jackson had expressed an interest in a race for the House at some point in time but hadn't appeared to be preparing to take on McCall in the GOP primary on March 2 if he'd decided to seek another two-year term as widely expected until he declared otherwise.
While Jackson proved to be a prolific fundraiser in her first political campaign when she knocked off council incumbent Loretta Ellerbe in 2008, Taylor had the ability to tap his own personal wealth in the race for Congress against Edwards three years ago. Almost $700,000 of the $2.6 million war chest that Taylor amassed for the U.S. House race came as loans that he made to the campaign or personally guaranteed.
The district that McCall represents has been a Republican stronghold where the GOP's candidates at the top of the ticket had claimed more than 70 percent of the vote in recent elections until White House nominee John McCain finished with 61 percent there in 2008 as Barack Obama ran stronger in the Dallas area than previous Democratic presidential contenders had in the past several decades.
Richard has been meeting with conservative groups associated with the tea party movement as he prepared to run to the right of McCall, a moderate lawmaker who's one of Speaker Joe Straus' most powerful allies as the Calendars Committee chairman since the San Antonio Republican won the top leadership post early this year amid a revolt that McCall helped lead.
With McCall out of the running, most if not all of the Republicans who enter the battle to replace him will probably run under the conservative banner.
Richard, for example, has centered his campaign on the theme of American Sovereignty with conservative positions on key issues including his support for voter identification legislation, immigration control, private school vouchers, lower taxes, limited government, pro-life measures and term limits. But Richard also is attempting to portray himself as a conservative with compassion as he touts his position as a member of the The Salvation Army Plano Advisory Board.
