Born and raised in East Texas, he attended Tyler Junior College and the University of Texas at Tyler, receiving his BBA in Economics, cum laude, in 1992. From there he went on to Baylor University School of Law, where he received his law degree in 1995.
He was honored to be chosen by US District Judge William Steger of Tyler to serve as his Law Clerk, a position he held from 1995-1997.
In 2002 in his first run for office, he was elected with 52% of the vote. In 2004 he was reelected by a 62% margin and in 2006 with 82%. He was unopposed for reelection in 2008 & 2010.

The Texas Border Volunteers regularly conduct watches in South Texas.
Teams are deployed on private property and report trespassers to the Border Patrol.
Members volunteer their time and provide their own equipment. Training is provided.

Jim Gibson Graduated from Brownsboro High School, Brownsboro, Texas in 1971 and served in the U.S. Air Force from November 1971 to July of 1992. He retired with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant and graduated from U.T. San Antonio in 1997 with a degree in political science and social studies composite teaching certification. Jim taught high school economics for 15 years at Harlandale High School in San Antonio and retired in 2011. In 2008 Jim Gibson joined the Texas Border Volunteers and currently serves as the Executive Vice President.

Christopher Strom served 20 years with the New York City Police Department, retiring as a Sergeant in 2007 from the Intelligence Division. As a section leader in the Counter-Terrorism Unit, Mr. Strom oversaw a team of hyper-aggressive detectives dedicated to the disruption and apprehension of would be terrorist’s and events throughout New York City and beyond.
In October of 2007, Mr. Strom was recruited by JIED-DO, (Joint Improvised Explosive Device-Defeat Organization) a government agency that devised strategies for combatting IED”s or Roadside Bombs that were killing our soldiers and coalition forces in Iraq and Afghanistan
As the lead Tactical-Debriefing officer, Mr. Strom applied his tradecraft to captured insurgents, amassing over 110 combat missions and 91 HVT’s (High Value Targets) captures in southern Iraq during his 15 months of service.
After his return from Iraq, Mr. Strom started his own company which provides providing platform instruction to US Navy SEAL’s and law enforcement, specializing in HUMINT (Human Intelligence) Collection, Sensitive Site Exploitation and
Counter-Terrorism strategies.
Mr. Strom also instructs on Executive Protection where individuals are trained in threat mitigation and the best practices of moving a high risk principal from one place to another.
Jordan Sekulow is a human rights attorney and Director of International Operations for the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ). Before joining ACLJ, Sekulow worked as a grassroots political organizer, serving as the National Youth Director for Bush-Cheney 2004, as a full-time consultant on Governor Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign while attending law school, and as the 72-Hour Field Director for the Georgia Republican Party.
At ACLJ, Sekulow oversees the organization’s work in the Middle East, Africa, and Pakistan, liaising between the ACLJ, the European Center for Law and Justice (ECLJ), and the Slavic Center for Law and Justice (SCLJ). His responsibilities include representing the respective organizations before the United Nations.
