Since writing Political Courage “The Journey” a lot of water has passed under the proverbial bridge. Since then my wife and I have discussed in depth and yes prayed about the possibility of running for office.
Of course I continued to hear the mantra of skeptics, he cannot be defeated, you don’t know what you are getting into and what will happen to your company? The arguments were many and credible against my running, but all along I kept hearing a voice in my mind; a calling from my soul to dismiss the negative influences surrounding me. “How can you not stand up and fight for what you know is best for our state and country” was the message. I tried my best to ignore it but the calling was persistent. It became evident my passion, my love for liberty and Democracy would overpower my desire to maintain the status quo. To simply remain a business man and attempt to implement change from the sidelines was inappropriate.
No one can question the assertion that our country is at a cross roads both socially and economically. Under the current administration and leadership we are rapidly losing our freedoms through ever increasing socialistic and draconian policies. The speed and degree at which we are abandoning our heritage and entering an America void of the principles which made our country great is frightening.
As freedom loving patriots each of us must take on this battle for our children and our countries future. The clock is ticking and there is no time to wait nor room to procrastinate.
So although I will be attacked as a “right wing extremist” as defined by Obama and I may suffer dishonest character assignations, I enter this battle confident that as ardent patriots, we can and will ultimately succeed in returning our government to the people. There is a paradigm shift in our country, a grassroots movement determined to restore our country back to the roots of our constitution, back to the Christian Judeo principles we were founded upon.
I will listen to my conscious and embark on a journey I expect to be difficult and life altering. However as I shared with my wife, we are indeed in a battle for our country and although real bullets are not flying over head, the stakes for which we struggle are just as severe as those our forefathers and our parents fought for, life liberty and democracy.
All my life I have heard the phrase “freedom isn’t free”. Perhaps for the first time, at this cross road in my life I truly understand the meaning of these words. I ask each of you as liberty loving patriots, to stand with me for I cannot win this battle alone. I am simply a liberty loving patriot, a humbled individual who has been asked to run for the Texas House of Representatives and lead this fight in our district.
GOD willing the electorate in District 66 will win this battle in 2010 and when we do we will send a unambiguous message across the great state of Texas. A declaration which will be heard all the way down in Austin; that the citizens still determine who represents us, that we are indeed a government of the people and by the people.
God Bless America
